David Trench is CEO of WasteFuel.
David is a seasoned executive with experience across global energy and technology businesses. He brings a deep track record as a venture builder and transformative leader, with a strong focus on growth, implementation and operational excellence. He is a Board Member of Ocean Harvest, an agri-tech startup focused on sustainable and tech-enabled food production in the Middle East, where he previously also served as CEO and Co-Founder.
David’s early career was spent in technical and operational roles followed later by commercial, strategic and business development roles in the energy sector with Shell and BHP. The combination of this commercial and technical track record led to David assuming senior leadership and executive roles in world class businesses with Shell. This global experience spanned Australia, USA, Asia and the Middle East.
After Shell, David joined Meraas, a UAE-based diversified investment holding company, as Chief Operating Officer (COO). As COO David was a member of the Executive Committee and held P&L responsibility over a diversified set of business units, in addition to spearheading corporate strategy and a business transformation program for the Group.
Post Meraas, David joined noon, a high-growth technology start-up in the Middle East. As Senior Vice President (SVP), David worked with the CEO to lead several high-priority and strategic growth projects. These projects included the regional expansion of noon’s e-commerce platform, building out a standalone monetization business unit and scaling a separate fintech based venture.
David also founded and served as Managing Director of TrenZenith Advisory, a boutique executive advisory serving senior executives and entrepreneurs across the globe.
David holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree with First Class Honours from the University of Western Australia. David is also an internationally accredited executive coach.
David lives in Dubai with his wife and two children, and enjoys time outdoors hiking, playing sports and exploring nature.
