Director of Business Development

The Director of Business Development plays a critical role in WasteFuel’s growth by developing and implementing an organized business development strategy/process. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented and comfortable multi-tasking. Candidate will have industry experience, exceptional relationship management skills and a proven ability to generate and close new business.

The Director of Business Development will work closely with and report to the executive team.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements; tracking best practices and competitor strategies

  • Locates or proposes potential business deals/ targets through an existing network and identifies targets through research / due diligence

  • Prepares and facilitates presentations, proposals for outreach and/or follow up – defining and articulating what sets WasteFuel apart

  • Develops negotiating strategies and positions by staying current on market trends and developments – ensuring our unique angle and foothold in the industry

  • Develops a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and partner satisfaction

  • Coordinate business development initiatives including “roadshows” (planning, coordination, and execution), meetings, on-site meetings, conference calls and investor events 

  • Maintains the prospect/partner/investor pipeline

  • Coordinates calendars and priorities and arranges business meetings with prospective investors/ partners

  • Builds long-term relationships with new and existing partners and/or investors

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify and define additional partners needed to scale the business and conduct outreach accordingly

  • Conduct outreach to establish relationships with potential partners

  • Edit and proofread memos, emails, presentations and reports

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Proven track record / 5 + years of relevant working experience

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Demonstrable experience with high-level negotiations

  • Excellent time management and planning skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge / proficiency
